The Department of Genetics delivers outstanding care for patients and families through integrated clinical and laboratory services, including comprehensive prenatal, pediatric, adult inpatient and outpatient genetic services (diagnosis, management and counseling), and state-of-the-art laboratory services (cytogenetics, molecular genetics, and biochemical genetics). Clinic Overview
 
The UAB Neurofibromatosis Clinic functions as a multi disciplinary team led by Dr. Bruce Korf  and Drs. Lane Rutledge, who have extensive experience in caring for patients with this condition. Clinic staff include genetic counselors and nurses, as well as access to specialists as needed. The clinic serves patients and their families dealing with the lifelong medical, psychological, and social implications of this diagnosis. Involvement in clinical research or clinical trial is possible in some instances.
